Description
This is my Thesis project for the Graphic Design department at VCU Arts. My appreciation for movie theaters inspired me to create this project, representing the evolution of movie poster design throughout different decades.
3-D Glasses can be used
The Goal
To create a series of 10 movie posters, each representing the most popular movies in the U.S. to their respective decade. From the 1920s to the 2020s (100 years).
Original ideas:
Light reflective poster
Cardboard cutout
3D effect (have people wear 3D glasses)
Research
My first step was to learn more about what goes on behind the way movie posters are designed. I was very curious about what techniques designers used 100 years ago and how it has changed in today’s world. Adding to that, I wanted to learn what influenced their work, like:
•Important world/national events
•Politics
•Social Trends
•Design Trends
